A Message From Gary Sinise
“Jonathan has made a beautiful film that captures the dedication and sacrifice of our troops, first responders and their families, and what it means to give back to them. He first approached me about filming some of the work I was doing in support of our troops just after my third trip to Iraq with the USO. I was unsure about it, but he convinced me that it would be treated with honor and respect. That really comes through in the film, and I am honored to be a part of it. ”
About Gary
Gary Sinise is a film, theater and television actor, as well as a director and producer. He received an Academy Award nomination in 1995 as Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of Lieutenant Dan in "Forrest Gump." He is a three-time Golden Globe nominee, winning for the title role in "Truman." He is a two-time Emmy Award nominee, winning for his lead role in "George Wallace." Sinise is a four-time Tony Award nominee and a four-time nominee and two-time winner of the Screen Actors Guild Award.
Currently, Sinise is starring as Det. Mack “Mac” Taylor in CBS’s hugely successful “CSI: New York” now celebrating its 7th season and over 150 episodes.
Since 2003, Gary has traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan numerous times in support of the troops. In his travels abroad he also performs with his Lt. Dan Band for the USO and for other military and veterans causes. Gary recently received the Presidential Citizens Medal, which is the second highest civilian honor awarded to citizens for exemplary deeds performed in service of the nation. Gary is only the second actor in history to receive it, the other, Elizabeth Taylor.
